ALL NONPROFITS SHOULD INVEST INTO THIS ONE THING

All profits should invest into this one thing:

       Branding.

I saw your eyes roll but hear me out:

Branding and marketing is not my speciality but I have been apart of the great big wide nonprofit family long enough tell you that branding is not where you should get cheap. Social media and story telling is driving the nonprofit mission at a fast pace and if you are not prepped and ready to roll... you will get left behind. And I don't like to see any of my nonprofit friends left behind.

Some of you are saying, "But Todd... branding can get so expensive!" I know. I am not going to argue with you on that point. I am just letting you know, it's worth it and it pays off. Let me give you 3 quick benefits of investing into branding for your organization.

1.  YOU WILL KNOW YOUR STORY AND HOW TO SHARE YOUR STORY

When you invest in branding and pull in (ahem, pay for) experts to help with this, you will really get to know *your* story. By the end of the whole process, you will know who you are and what you are about using less than 3 sentences to explain it. Branding goes way beyond logos, colors, and fonts. Branding is identifying the culture of your organization and making it identifiable to others.

2. THE SCARY SOCIAL MEDIA SYSTEM IS STREAMLINED AND THEREFORE BECOMES LESS SCARY

When you invest into branding you naturally streamline the social media system because everything you post or send out into the universe is now cohesive and has purpose. Consultants are able to help your craft an organized and simplified system that will include the right templates, schedules, and all the bits and bobs that go into using social media to work well for your organization.  Suddenly, there is no "what should we post" because there is a system put into place. You will know your voice and you know how to use it.

3. THE RIGHT PEOPLE WILL PARTNER WITH YOU

When you invest into branding, you will get the right people to partner with you. Your mission will become clear and accessible and it will be easy for people you want to attract to say to you, "Yes, I want to be on your team!" One of the frustrations I often hear from nonprofits is that they are not getting the right people to partner with them. Nine times out of ten, this is because of a branding issue. People are confused on what the mission Is about or how they can be involved or what their money will directly impact...yadda...yadda...yadda... With the right branding, you can substantially grow your influence with the right folks

When clients ask me if I think it's wise for them to put some money into their branding and marketing, I want to get on my chair and chant, "YES! YES! YES!". So many wonderful nonprofits could go waaaaaaaaaaaaay farther if they only took branding more seriously.

Good branding can be like magical unicorn tears that can transform your organization into what it is always meant to be but you got to be willing to pay for the magical unicorn tears. Ya feel me?

If you have been on the fence about whether or not it's time to up your branding game, I encourage you to not waste another minute debating it. It's time, friend. It's time.

    Cheering for you,

      Todd
